THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of isolated heavy rainfall in the state until October 23. A yellow alert has been issued in various districts in the wake of the rain warning.

Isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted in these districts. Heavy rain is defined as rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
A low-pressure system is currently located over the central-eastern Arabian Sea. It is likely to move away from the Indian coast during the next two days. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation is present over the central Andaman Sea. Consequently, a low-pressure system is expected to form over the central-eastern Bay of Bengal by October 21, which may intensify into a deep depression by October 23. The IMD has warned that isolated areas in the state are likely to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms from October 19 to 23.
