PATNA: A man named Kapilesh Sharma was arrested for molesting a woman after falsely claiming to be a soldier on Facebook. The arrest was made in Nagpur, Maharashtra, following a complaint filed by the victim.
According to the police, Sharma befriended the woman through Facebook, and the two eventually entered into a romantic relationship. Sharma had claimed to be a soldier, but the woman later discovered that he was, in fact, working as a cook in a private hostel. Realizing the deception, she ended the relationship.
Following the breakup, the accused allegedly began to harass and threaten the woman. The victim reported that Sharma repeatedly tortured her and threatened to release nude photos and videos of her. After investigating the matter, police arrested Sharma and charged him under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 376 (rape) and other relevant provisions. Authorities are continuing their investigation and will examine whether Sharma has targeted other women as well.
This is not an isolated incident. Recently, the Delhi Police arrested a 28-year-old man for raping a woman constable after posing as a soldier and promising to marry her. The two had met through a matrimonial website.
