MALAPPURAM: A major gold theft in KSRTS bus. 1.5 kilograms of gold worth Rs one crore was stolen from a passenger of the bus. The gold which was in the bag of gold merchant Jibin of Madassery Kallarakkal in Thrissur was stolen. The complaint said the gold was lost during the bus journey in Changaramkulam. The incident happened on Saturday at 10 pm. The gold was being taken for sale in the jewellery.
The incident happened in the KSRTC bus which was going to Angamaly from Kozhikode. Jibin boarded the bus from Kuttipuram and was going to the jewellery shop in Thrissur. When he reached Edapal around 10 pm, he found the bag lying open and found the gold missing. Reports said that the passenger hung the bag on the bus.
Based on the information given to the Changaramkulam police, the bus was taken to the police station and all the passengers were examined but gold was not found. The police have started an investigation into the incident. It is not clear whether any hints have been obtained about the suspects.
Recently, a gold merchant and his friend were attacked in broad daylight in Thrissur and robbed off two and a half kilograms of gold. The gold stolen was being brought from Coimbatore in a car. The gang in three cars followed them, stopped the vehicle and forcibly stole the gold. They were wearing masks. The ornaments were brought after making them in Coimbatore.
