THRISSUR: In a major fraud case, a man accused of swindling ₹8 lakh under the pretense of securing medicine orders has been arrested. Kiran Kumar (45), a resident of Udayamperur in Ernakulam, was apprehended by the Thrissur East Police from his home in Kongapilli.
Kumar allegedly duped a native of Mulamkunnathukavu by convincing him that he would procure medicine orders from other states for a company located on Patturaykkal Ponnuveetil Lane. He initially took ₹10 lakh from the victim, returning ₹2 lakh but failed to repay the remaining ₹8 lakh. After repeated delays, the victim lodged a complaint at the Thrissur East Police Station.
Following a tip-off received by Thrissur ACP Salish N. Shankar, a team led by Thrissur East Police Inspector Jijo M J, Sub Inspector Shibu, Senior Civil Police Officer Sujith and Civil Police Officers Ajmal and Suraj, tracked down and arrested the accused from Palakkad's Nenmeni area.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that Kiran Kumar is involved in one other case at the Ernakulam Central Police Station and two cases at the Thrissur Town East Police Station. He was produced in court and remanded in custody.
