THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More information surface in the incident of a nivedya uruli (bronze vessel) going missing from the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. The investigating team said the people arrested in the incident had no intention of stealing. Four including three women were arrested in the missing case of the uruli. It is believed that no case of theft will be filed against them.

One of the accused, an Australian citizen identified as Ganesh Jha, told police that while visiting the temple, the pooja items brought in a plate had fallen down and when picked them up with the help of someone else, the things were given in the uruli which was kept on the side. The accused said that when they went out, no one stopped them and so took the uruli with them. Jha said the temple staff had not helped them after taking money but was cheated in Rameswaram after accepting money for darshan.

The nivedya uruli went missing from the temple on October 13. After examining the CCTV, the temple authorities informed the police on October 15. Following that, more information was obtained about the person who took the uruli. The temple is a high security area and around 200 police personnel including one SP, DySP and four circle inspectors have been deployed for security. It is reported that action is likely to be taken against the officials for security breach.
