KANNUR: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan visited ADM Naveen Babu’s house in Malayalapuzha on Sunday and promised full support to the bereaved family. However, the police inaction barely keeps up with the promise made by the party secretary. It has been four days since PP Divya was made the main accused in the suicide of the ADM Naveen Babu. It is accused that the police have not cared to question her or find the whereabouts of the CPM leader.

Ironically, Kannapuram police hastily registered a case on the complaint filed by Divya's husband Ajith alleging a massive cyber-attack on his family members.

It is now said that the police are complicity delaying the arrest for letting Divya obtain an anticipatory bail from the court. After ADM's death, Divya has not yet participated in any public events. She is not even available on the phone. For once, she was seen heading towards the railway station premises to hand over the resignation letter to the district panchayat secretary.

The police issued a notice to collect the statement of the district collector to know if he had invited Divya to the farewell function. The statement of the Petrol pump applicant who made bribery allegations against the ADM has been recorded.

The Thalassery court will consider PP Divya's anticipatory bail plea on Monday. If denied bail, the police are expected to allow the CPM leader more time to approach the High Court, prolonging the questioning session.

In a statement given to the Joint Commissioner of Land Revenue, A. Geetha, the Kannur district collector denied inviting PP Divya to the farewell function.

Collector Arun K Vijayan visited the Chief Minister at his residence in Pinarayi on Saturday night and briefed him. The collector fearing protest stayed away from the ceremony to inaugurate the AKG school building in Pinarayi.
