NEW DELHI: Even as the Centre has made it clear that it will bring an amendment to provide imprisonment of up to life and a fine for making fake bomb threats to aircraft, there is no shortage of threats. More than 56 flights, including ones taking off from Kochi and Karipur, received fake bomb threats today alone. Passengers and airlines suffered due to this. More than 100 aircraft of Indian companies have faced threats in the last one week.

Three IndiGo flights to Jeddah were diverted today following a fake threat. The Kozhikode-Jeddah flight was diverted to Riyadh, the Bengaluru-Jeddah flight was diverted to Doha and the Delhi-Jeddah flight to Madinah. IndiGo's Mangalore-Mumbai, Ahmedabad-Jeddah, Lucknow-Pune, Hyderabad-Jeddah, Istanbul-Mumbai, Delhi-Dammam and Istanbul-Delhi flights have also received fake threats.

In Kochi, an IndiGo flight to Bengaluru and an Air India flight to London received threats. The threat messages were received on social media platform X, hours after the two planes took off. These planes landed safely at the destination.
