KANNUR: The police, in their efforts to protect PP Divya, are hastily searching for evidence related to the bribery allegations against Naveen Babu. They are trying to establish proof that ADM Naveen Babu had received a bribe for giving NOC to a petrol pump, in order to reduce the intensity of public sentiment against Divya. Despite the Chief Minister's assurance of action against Divya, the investigation team remains reluctant to move forward. The Thalassery Principal Sessions Court will consider Divya's anticipatory bail plea tomorrow. The police are trying to provide her protection from arrest until then.

Divya is the sole accused in the case and is likely to get up to 10 years of imprisonment for abetting Naveen Babu's suicide. If she is summoned for questioning, it could result in her arrest and remand. Hence, the police are trying to avoid that. Until then, the investigation team will continue the process of recording witness statements.

The Land Revenue Joint Commissioner, who's conducting a departmental inquiry, has granted PP Divya more time to appear before her. These actions validate claims that the government is protecting Divya, even when they deny it. The release of CCTV footage showing a meeting between petrol pump applicant T.V. Prashanthan and ADM K Naveen Babu also clearly reflects this strategy.
