pp-divya-fugitive

KANNUR: Former district panchayat president PP Divya has completed one week of her fugitive life. Police are clueless about the whereabouts of Divya, an accused in the suicide of ADM Naveen Babu. All eyes are now fixated on Thalassery court and the decision that comes for Divya’s anticipatory bail plea on Thursday.

Divya is the first accused of abetment of suicide. Interestingly, CPM in Kannur successfully shielded their leader for one week, despite the case evoking emotional connection among the masses. The police are complicit in this drama and are in no hurry to take any action against the CPM leader. The officials reached Divvya’s house three times but couldn’t find her. The whole hoodwink evokes disgust as Divya’s husband too has confessed to the police about not knowing his wife’s whereabouts.

There were reports that Divya was hiding in Palakkayam resort, a hilly region in Kannur. The police said that an investigation was conducted and no evidence was found.

ADM was found dead in the quarters on the 15th morning. Divya was at home in Irinavu that day and the following two days. She was charged with abetment to suicide on 17th October. Later, Divya handed over her resignation letter to the officer in charge of the District Panchayat Secretary by reaching the east gate of the railway station, just a hundred meters away from the town police station where the case was being investigated.

If the anticipatory bail plea is rejected, Divya is likely to be secretly taken to court under party guard and she will eventually surrender. CPM had earlier formed a human shield at her residence in Irinavu after expecting an opposition protest. It is reported that CPM Kannur has instructed the police to wait for the Thalassery court decision before questioning Divya.

The party secretary and the chief minister announced that strict action would be taken against Divya but all these are proving to be futile words of promise to deceive the masses.
