KOZHIKODE: The Kerala High Court has quashed the domestic violence case filed by a young woman against her husband Rahul P Gopal, after she submitted an affidavit stating she had no complaints against him and wished to resume her marital life. The case, which initially included serious allegations of physical abuse and dowry demands, took a significant turn following the woman’s recent statements.

The complaint was originally lodged by the woman a few days after her marriage to Rahul, in which she alleged that he had assaulted her with a belt, strangled her with a charger cable, and demanded dowry. However, the narrative shifted when the woman later posted a video on YouTube claiming that Rahul had not harmed her and that she had been pressured by her family to file the complaint.

In the video, she expressed regret over her initial court statements, stating that family influence, especially from her father, compelled her to make accusations she now felt were untrue. She mentioned feeling "guilty" about providing a false statement under pressure.

The woman also spoke to the media, reiterating her desire to reconcile with her husband and blaming family interference for the escalation of the dispute. Following these public statements, she submitted an affidavit in the High Court, formally withdrawing her allegations. Her father has alleged that his daughter’s reversal may be due to undue influence from Rahul, suggesting that her statements could be the result of pressure from the accused.
