THRISSUR: A scooterist sustained serious injuries after falling into a pothole on the state highway. He fell in the pothole on the Thrissur-Kunnamkulam Road. The incident happened at Punkunnam in Thrissur. Santhosh K Menon (46) of Ayyanthole has been admitted in Aswini Hospital in Thrissur. The incident happened Thursday night at 9.30 pm. Santhosh sustained injuries on his head, teeth and jaw. He was subjected to an emergency operation.

The Thrissur-Kunnamkulam Road is a very dangerous one. Along with the potholed road, the speeding of lorries and buses poses a big threat. Passengers travel with their lives in their hands. Accidents involving bikes and scooters are a common sight. The Public Works Department had closed the section from Choondal to Kechery for maintenance following the complaints raised.

A month ago, Justice Devan Ramachandran's car also met with an accident when it fell into a pothole on the road near Mundur. The accident happened when the tyre of the car burst after falling into the pit.
