PALAKKAD: The verdict in the Thenkurussi honour killing case will be pronounced tomorrow. Aneesh alias Appu (27), son of Aarumugham of Ilamandam was hacked to death by his wife’s family on December 25 in 2020.
Aneesh’s wife Haritha’s uncle Suresh is the first accused in the case and her father Prabhu Kumar, the second accused. The court found the two guilty. The cross-examination of the witness was completed yesterday.
Aneesh and Haritha were in love and got married. Both belonged to different castes. Family of Aneesh was financially very weak, while Haritha hailed from a middle-class family. Her family was against the marriage.
Aneesh’s family alleged that Haritha’s relatives had threatened of killing him. Her uncle Suresh threatened to kill Aneesh in three months.
On the fateful day, Aneesh and his brother were going to a shop. Prabhu Kumar and Suresh together attacked the two. Aneesh sustained serious injuries when attacked with swords and rods. Aneesh died before reaching the hospital. After committing the crime, Prabhu Kumar fled to his relative’s house in Coimbatore. He was caught from there.
