CHELAKKARA: The BJP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that the LDF has violated the election code of conduct. BJP Thrissur district president KK Aneesh Kumar has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that plastic flux was put up for the LDF election campaign in Chelakkara. The LDF violated the high court order not to print the flex. According to the BJP's complaint, the LDF did not follow the rule to print on cloth. The complaint has been lodged against LDF candidate UR Pradeep.

The by-election in Chelakkara was necessitated following the victory of K Radhakrishnan of the CPM to parliament. Ramya Haridas is the UDF candidate. K Balakrishnan is contesting for the BJP.
