NEW DELHI: Indian defence spokesperson blamed Pakistan-sponsored terrorists behind the brutal attack in the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Gulmarg sector. The defence spokesperson clarified that the attack was aimed at disrupting the peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir and instilling fear in the residents.
The attack happened on October 24th in the Bota Pathri area of Kashmir. Two soldiers were martyred and two locals were killed in the attack. Three soldiers were injured. Riflemen Qaiser Ahmed Shah and Jeevan Singh were martyred. The locals Mushtaq Chaudhary and Zahoor Ahmed Mir, killed in the terrorist attack, were porters.
The army retaliated heavily after the terrorists opened fire on the army convoy. With the attack amplifying the terrorists dropped their weapons and scuttled into the forest. The defence spokesperson said that the terrorist shrewdly took advantage of the dark hours to carry out the attack. Meanwhile, the People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) claimed responsibility for the attack in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held at Raj Bhavan to review the security situation in the Kashmir Division in the wake of recent terrorist attacks targeting non-indigenous workers in the Kashmir Valley. DGP Nalin Prabhat and Principal Secretary Home Department Chandrakar Bharti attended the meeting.
