NEW DELHI: The lives of non-resident Indians (NRIs) separated from family and friends, Swiggy, India’s popular food delivery platform has introduced a new feature allowing users to order food and essentials for their loved ones in India, from anywhere abroad. This new service will be available initially to NRIs in 27 countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia and the UAE.
This unique cross-border offering means NRIs can now log in to Swiggy using their international phone numbers and not only place food orders but also buy daily essentials via Swiggy Instamart, the company’s quick commerce platform. Payments can be made through international credit cards or UPI.
The feature comes just ahead of the festive season, allowing NRIs to send gifts, surprise loved ones and take care of everyday needs for family members, especially elderly parents. Swiggy anticipates a strong response to this service, which caters specifically to the needs of the Indian expatriate community. Earlier, Zomato’s Blinkit also introduced a similar feature but had limited its availability to a few days.
