PALAKKAD: CPM state secretary MV Govindan has rejected CPM state committee member NN Krishnadas for making derogatory remarks against the media. Govindan said the basis for good criticism is the use of beautiful language and also raised a veiled attack that the media was criticized in the language used by the media.

Meanwhile, NN Krishnadas reiterated that he stands by the remark. He told the media that he was "absolutely contemptuous" of the journalists' union and that he had used the term "dogs" after much thought. "I have criticized those who stand with a longing tongue. Fold the protest and put it in your pocket. No one has been named," Krishnadas added.

CPM central committee member AK Balan came out in support of Krishnadas. Balan told the media that it was the media that provoked Krishnadas and he responded with anger because the media was constantly blaming the Left. Krishnadas insulted the media when he reached the LDF convention venue along with area committee member Abdul Shukoor, who had announced that he would leave the party. Krishnadas said that the media stood guard like dogs in front of meat shops.

Criticism at State Secretariat

The issue was discussed at the state secretariat meeting held in Thrissur also. It is learned that the state secretariat assessed that Krishnadas should have avoided such remarks during the elections. "Leaders should be careful whenever they use every word. Making such expressions will send a wrong message," the secretariat observed.

"CPM has no objection or hatred towards the media. CPM is opposed to the false propaganda and such stand taken by the media against the CPM. We are all people who are closely associated with journalists."
