PALAKKAD: Palakkad left independent candidate P Sarin said the letter that surfaced is a confession of UDF’s failure. While talking to a media, he said the letter surfaced as there a few people in it who wants the congress party to excel well.

‘I am not at all surprised or shocked. I had said then that the candidate was fielded only to lose. It is understood that the UDF confessed even before the election that their candidate Rahul Mamkootathil is not going to win here.

The UDF itself is saying that they have fielded a candidate to lose. That is what we need to understand from the letter. If this letter helps people to judge, so much the better. Bigger things are yet to come. We will understand it gradually,’ Sarin said.

DCC proposed the name of K Muraleedharan as the UDF candidate in the Palakkad assembly constituency where the by-election is taking place. The letter of DCC president A Thankappan sent to AICC demanding to field him came out yesterday.

A part of the two-page letter was released yesterday. The letter asserted that Muraleedharan should be fielded in Palakkad to defeat the BJP. The name of Rahul Mankootahil is not in the letter that surfaced.
