KANNUR: The CPM leadership is unable to delay the action against PP Divya in the Naveen Babu case. Apart from the preliminary report submitted by the police in the court, the investigation reports of the health department and the revenue department also show that Divya's speech was not well-intentioned. The anticipatory bail plea will be considered tomorrow. The cadres think that the party will take action after the court's decision. The assessment is that the party will not be able to continue for long the move of directly rejecting Divya and indirectly extending support to her.

The police, who are delaying Divya's arrest by yielding to the Kannur lobby, are waiting for the verdict on the bail plea. The investigating team is taking statements from more people. Though the police know Divya's whereabouts, the news is not going out in the safety of the party village. The investigation team will be in more trouble if the anticipatory bail is not granted tomorrow.
Meantime, PP Divya's lawyers have decided to file an appeal in the high court as soon as her anticipatory bail plea is rejected. The defence feels that if the petition reaches the high court and it is accepted expeditiously, Divya's arrest can be extended again under the guise of it.

Divya is likely to give a statement before the investigating team if she gets bail tomorrow. Divya and her team are hoping that she will get bail. Divya emphasised on the argument that she came to the farewell meeting at the invitation of the collector. While the prosecution opposed this argument, the prosecution admitted that Divya had spoken to the collector on the day of the incident about the corruption of the ADM. The defence is hopeful that this will help the court to take a stand in favour of the defence. At the same time, there is a view within the party that the sentiments of the people should also be taken into account.
