BENGALURU: The Bengaluru police have registered a case against director Ranjith for allegedly sexually abusing a young man from Kozhikode. The Devanahalli Police Station in Bengaluru registered the case, charging Ranjit with sections related to unnatural sexual harassment and invasion of privacy. It was the Kozhikode Kasaba Police that handed over the case to the Bengaluru Police.
The case alleged that Ranjith had called the complainant to a hotel near Bengaluru International Airport and subjected him to unnatural sexual harassment. The police will summon both the complainant and Ranjit within two days to record their statements. The complainant had approached Ranjith seeking an opportunity to work in films. In his complaint, the youth alleged that Ranjith sexually assaulted him in a hotel in Bengaluru in 2012. The young man had given a statement to the special investigation team formed to probe complaints in the film industry. The youth also alleged that Ranjith had captured his nude photos and sent them to his friend, who is an actress.
