KANNUR: In the case registered in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu, the police are very careful in ‘not seeing’ the accused P P Divya even accidentally. Even after a case was registered against her on abetment of suicide, the police are unaware of her whereabouts. The political world and family of Naveen Babu are keenly watching to see what would be P P Divya's next move as her anticipatory bail plea has been rejected by the Thalassery District Sessions Court.
Divya is on the run ever since the case was registered. Divya can now approach the high court. However, there is no hurdle for the police to arrest her. Until now, the police have taken the stand that let the court decision come. If Divya is not arrested yet, it will be a shame for the police force of the state. Police say Divya is in Kannur.
If she does not approach the high court for bail, Divya may sometimes surrender before the investigating team or in court. If going to the high court for bail, she can file a plea for not arresting pending the verdict. However, the party’s decision will be crucial. However, if she continues in hiding and approaches the high court, it will create a crisis for the party and the government in the coming by-elections.
A case was registered against Divya on abetment of suicide on October 17. The case is that ADM Naveen Babu ended his life after Divya insulted him during the farewell function accorded to him. Divya approached the court for anticipatory bail on October 18. Judge K T Nisar Ahmed delivered the verdict today. The offense was charged under Section 108 of the Indian Penal Code. As the statement of Divya, the sole accused, was not recorded, even two weeks after the death of the ADM, the police investigation did not reach anywhere.
