KANNUR: P P Divya, former Kannur district president, surrendered before the investigating officers soon after the court rejected her anticipatory bail plea, in the case in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu. She had been on the run for 12 days, soon after a case was registered against her.
She surrendered at Kannapuram in Kannur. She will be produced in the court after interrogation. The Thalassery Principal Sessions Court had rejected her anticipatory bail plea today. She appeared before the investigating officers without appearing in the court. It is hinted that the party had directed her to surrender after her bail plea was rejected.
It is reported that Divya came to surrender along with local party activists. She will be taken to Kannur town station. She will be produced in the court after preliminary interrogation. However, the commissioner informed that Divya was taken into custody. He clarified that other procedures are in progress and after questioning, a decision will be taken on the remaining things.
The commissioner said Divya was watched constantly and this led them to take her into custody easily. He said will talk in detail after the entire operation is completed. Was waiting for the court order. It will take time to record the arrest, he said. Meantime, the commissioner did not respond to the question from where was she taken into custody.
A case was registered against her soon after the death of ADM Naveen Babu. Divya had insulted him at his farewell function and this led him to take the extreme step.
