KANNUR: Naveen Babu's wife Manjusha expressed faith in the police investigation into her husband ADM Naveen Babu’s death case. She responded after CPM Leader PP Divya surrendered before the investigation team on Tuesday.
PP Divya was taken into police custody at Kannapuram, Kannur after the Thalassery Principal Sessions Court rejected her anticipatory bail plea. The police stated that there was no lapse in action. Divya surrendered before the investigating officer without appearing in court.
The commissioner responded that Divya was under constant police surveillance and the arrest was made because her bail application was pending before the court. The official said it was the police report that turned the catalyst in the court rejecting the anticipatory bail plea of Divya.
According to the court, Divya purposefully tried to humiliate the ADM after attending the event uninvited. She even filmed the event and publicised it even in Pathanamthitta, the hometown of ADM Naveen Babu. Frustrated with being humiliated in front of his colleagues and employees, the ADM took his own life the next day.
The court observed that the accused could use political influence to derail the investigation. It is clear in the 38-page judgment that the court also accepted the contention that her speech at the farewell function was incomplete in the CD produced by the defendant.
