KANNUR: PP Divya, accused in the case related to the death of ADM Naveen Babu, has been remanded. The magistrate has remanded her to judicial custody for two weeks. Divya will be lodged in the women's jail in Pallikunnu. She has been remanded till the 12th of next month.

Divya was produced at the Taliparamba magistrate's house with heavy police security. Youth Congress and Yuva Morcha activists staged a massive protest in front of the magistrate's house. There was a scuffle between the police and the protesters who came with black flags.

PP Divya will file a bail plea in the Thalassery sessions court tomorrow. Divya was taken into custody by the police at Kannapuram in Kannur after the Thalassery Principal Sessions Court rejected her anticipatory bail plea. The police clarified that there was no lapse in the proceedings. Divya surrendered before the investigating officer without appearing before the court.

The commissioner responded that Divya was constantly under police surveillance and the arrest was delayed as her bail plea was pending before the court. "The prosecution argued in the court what is contained in the police report and the anticipatory bail was rejected considering this," the commissioner said.

According to the order of the Thalassery Principal Sessions Court, Divya tried to insult the ADM. "Upset over being humiliated in front of his colleagues and employees, the ADM had no other option but to commit suicide. Divya came to the uninvited event in a planned manner. Her role is clear," the court said in its order.
