JEDDAH: Shibu (43), a native of Kalikav, Malappuram and an active worker of the Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), died in a tragic train accident on Monday evening. The accident occurred at 7:30 pm near Vellambram, Vaniyambalam, when Shibu was struck by a train traveling from Shornur to Nilambur. He died on the spot.
Shibu, who had returned to Kerala from Jeddah just a week ago, had previously worked in the Jeddah Car Auction and later in the IT department at King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh, near Jeddah. After taking a break, he had recently returned to Jeddah on a new visa before coming back to Kerala.
A dedicated community worker, Shibu held various positions in the OICC, including serving as the Executive Member of the Jeddah Western Regional Committee, Haraj Area President, and Kalikav Panchayat Committee Member. He was also a committed Congress supporter in his hometown.
Shibu is survived by his father, Veeran Kutty Koori; his mother, Zubaidah; his wife, Najla; and his children, Azhar Ali and Arhan. Following the post-mortem at Mancheri Medical College, the funeral is scheduled for Tuesday at Kalikav Juma Masjid Ghabarstan.
The OICC Jeddah Western Regional Committee, the Congress Kalikav Constituency Committee, and other community members have expressed their condolences at Shibu’s passing.
