PATHANAMTHITTA: Manjusha, the wife of Naveen Babu, is yet to fully recover from the shock regarding her husband's suicide. She was struggling to find words as she tried to open up about the tragic incident which shook the hearts of Malayalis. She spoke to Kerala Kaumudi yesterday following the arrest of PP Divya, the accused responsible for the tragedy.
"I had wished for the arrest of the person who ruined our lives. I felt deeply distressed when the arrest was delayed. I have faith in the law. She (Divya) should get the maximum punishment. My husband was a man who did not cause any harm to others. The law applies equally to all. The accused should receive the maximum punishment. For that, I will go with the case to any extent," Manjusha said.
Will you demand that Collector should be named accused?
No, I don't want the Collector to be named as the accused in the case. However, the Collector should have intervened when Divya was speaking. Or else, he could have arranged a separate venue for that. Naveen liked the Collector and used to praise him very much. Yet, the Collector did not protect him when he was being subjected to insult during the farewell ceremony. He gave the accused a silent nod.
Has Naveen Babu ever told you about his work-related issues before?
No. He never allowed mixing work and family matters. He moved out of Pathanamthitta two years ago. While working in Kasargod and Kannur, he appeared happy whenever he returns to our home in Malayalappuzha. He did not bring any of his work pressure to the house. We had been to Kannur. During an adalat conducted in Kannur, a mother and daughter approached him with some issues. He listened to their problems and gave them the money he had in his hand before sending them back. It was his colleagues who told me this. He treated everyone with care. Yet...
