CHENNAI: A man and his daughter were arrested for murdering a 65-year-old woman. They dumped the body in a trolley bag and tried to transport it in a train. The two held are Balasubramanyam (43) of Salem and his 17-year-old daughter. The two murdered 65-year-old woman Mannam Ramani of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. The accused were arrested when they tried to flee with her ornaments after committing the murder.
The two invited her home and then murdered her. They covered her face with a bedsheet and then suffocated her. After murdering her, they stole her thaali chain, another gold chain and her earrings. The two boarded a suburban train from Nellore and deboarded at Minjur near Chennai. They tried to abandon the bag and get back on the same train. As blood was oozing from the bag, the passengers on the platform grew suspicious and informed the railway police. When police examined the bag, saw the body in the bag.
Balasubramanyam first told police that he murdered her as she forced his daughter into sex work. He later confessed to the police that they murdered her to steal her ornaments. The body has been shifted to the medical college hospital for post mortem. Police said that they are interrogating the two in detail.
