THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department has predicted heavy rain in the state for the next three hours. Thunder and lightning are also expected in the coming hours. However, more caution has been issued to Thiruvananthapuram, which is likely to witness heavy rains with thunder and lightning.

Also, light rain with thundershowers at isolated places and gusty winds of less than 40 kmph are likely over Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Ernakulam districts in the coming hours. Thundershowers and lightning are expected across the state until Sunday. Special caution has also been issued following the shocking death of a teen in Thiruvananthapuram due to a lightning strike just a few days back.

A yellow alert has been announced in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts for Friday.
