THRISSUR: Estranged BJP leader Sandeep Varier will not attend BJP’s election campaign in Palakkad. Sandeep expressed disappointment in the state party chief’s words and reiterated that he would refrain from attending campaign works of the BJP in Palakkad.
SANDEEP VARIER:
“It is through great penance that one enters an organization such as BJP. So, it is truly sad when someone decides to leave the party. An ideal leader would have tried their best to prevent any worker from leaving the party. Leadership should bring a sense of coherence.
At present, leaders are requesting me to come back after understanding the situation. It implicitly says that I have committed a mistake and should keep aside all quibbles to get back to working for the party. Despite getting hurt, I waited for five days without informing anyone because of the unwavering faith I had in this party. Personal animosity should not be shown by insulting a colleague in front of thousands of activists. The state president should talk about matters with vice-president Raghunathan.
The state president asking me to participate in the BJP’s campaign in Palakkad came in a tone of an order. He is saying that all problems will be solved after the elections. No such problems have ever been solved post-elections. Even BJP workers would admit to this. The current ruckus was brought by BJP's vice-president Raghunath. I have never spoken anything against K Surendran.
Despite having many personnel disagreements, I participated in the campaigning work for BJP’s Palakkad candidate. Despite issuing my discomfort, the party showed the least interest in addressing my queries and so I have decided not to mortgage my ideals. I will not participate in BJP’s election campaign in Palakkad. The party is adding salt to my injuries. Whatever the situation, I will remain a resolute BJP worker in my hometown.
I fear if Krishnakumar loses Palakkad, the party will pile the blame on my head. If the party wanted to win the consistency, they would have fielded Shobha Surendran or K Surendran. They would have won Palakkad in a canter. It was a bizarre decision to field someone who has made it a practice of losing elections. People lose faith when the same candidate with little chance of victory appears again in elections.
Don’t threaten me with talks of self-discipline. The party should take action against people who humiliated me."
