RIYADH: Abdul Rahim of Kozhikode, jailed in Riyadh, said that he did not meet his mother in jail because his mind did not allow him. Rahim was talking to his friends in Riyadh on phone from jail.
'My mother, brother and uncle came to jail on Thursday to see me. Though the jail authorities made the arrangements to meet them, my mind did not allow me to see them. As soon as I came to know that my mother (umma) had arrived, I felt like my blood pressure was shooting up. Took the medicine immediately. Although I have been in prison for 18 years, my mother has never seen me in prison uniform. Even though I talk to her on the phone, she has never seen me in my present stage. Umma still has the face of me coming to Saudi Arabia 18 years ago. Let it be like that. If she sees me in jail, both will not be able to bear that,’ he said.
The court will consider Rahim's case again on the 17th. His family reached Riyadh through the help of some other people, without informing the legal aid committee. His mother came to see him after eighteen years. However, Rahim was not willing to meet them. She was accompanied by her brother and some other relatives. They reached the jail with the permission of the governor. She broke into tears when Rahim was not ready to meet her. With this, the jail authorities tried to show him through video conference. Still Rahim was not ready for that.
'Despite what I said, my child was not willing to meet me. Someone might have made my son feel so. Otherwise, my son would never say that. We talked on the phone with so much love. Why did he say like that now, someone may have advised. He will not say like that, he said that he doesn’t want to meet us and asked us to go, he said, ‘you came with thieves, so I won’t meet you, go and will meet you when I reach there,’ her mother told a channel.
