THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An investigation has started on the social media propaganda that a ghost was seen near the Swaraj Gate on Vithura-Ponmudi State Highway. The incident is being probed by the Vithura police. The police said the propaganda is to sell prohibited drugs under the guise of a ghost story.

The picture of a woman dressed in a frightening manner is being circulated as a ghost. An audio is also circulating along with it. The audio says that a ghost was seen while going to Chayam via Charupara from Swaraj Gate and was saved only by luck, so asked the passers-by to be careful.

Police investigation revealed that the picture is about a village in Bihar. However, the owner of the audio recording could not be found. The police confirm that the voice belongs to a local resident. The police are investigating whether any illegal drug sales gang is behind the audio. The locals said that some people were seen returning on bikes from Swaraj Gate at night. The police are also investigating this matter. Presently Swaraj Gate and the adjoining cafeteria, washroom and rest center are found closed.
