THODUPUZHA: A seaplane landed at the high range of Idukki for the first time in history. The seaplane took off from Bolgatty in Kochi at 10.30 am Monday morning and landed at the specially prepared aerodrome at Mattupetti Dam at 10.57 am. It is an amphibious aircraft that can take off and land on land and water. Minister Roshi Augustine, MLAs M M Mani, A Raja and District Collector V Vigneshwari received the seaplane.
In connection with the arrival of the seaplane, the collector had issued an order prohibiting the flying of drones in Mattupetty today in the dam and surrounding areas. Also, traffic restrictions were imposed on the Munnar-Mattupetty road until the trial flight of the seaplane is completed.
Ministers Mohammad Riyas, P Rajeev and V Sivankutty attended the function at Bolgatty. The seaplane left for Mattupetty after taking a round with Mohammad Riaz and others. The seaplane reached Kochi yesterday from Mysuru. 15 people can travel in the seaplane at a time. The state government is targeting the tourism circuit by connecting the tourist centers of Kerala with the seaplane. The state government welcomed the aviators who landed in Kochi Lake.
