THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Pushapanjali Swamiyar at Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple, Munchirai Madom Swami Parameshwara Brahmananda Theertha passed away on Tuesday. He was 66. Swami was undergoing treatment for a week and breathed his last at 10 pm on Tuesday. Swami belongs to the Chalakudy Thiruthurmana family.
Swami Parameshwara had served as an officer in the Central government SC ST Department. Swami voluntarily retired from work in 2000 and later embraced monastic initiation in 2016. He is the 47th swami from the Munchirai Madom lineage. The mortal remains will be brought to Irinjalakuda Avittathur Math on Wednesday, where the final rites will take place.
Swami Parameshwara Brahmananda Theertha led a lone fight to retain Munchirai Madom, which was in dilapidated condition in Kanyakumari. He also showed his might after putting a lone battle after Seva Bharati occupied the site of the Munchiramath near the Mithranandapuram temple on the west side of the Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple. Swami sat there and protested day and night to ensure justice.
The right to conduct various pooja matters including Pushpanjali in the Padmanabha Swamy Temple belongs to Swamiyar of Munchirai Math Moopil and Swamiyar of Naduvil Math Moopil.
