KOCHI: The High Court has quashed an order issued by a lower court to register a case on the complaint that a housewife was sexually assaulted by police officers in Ponnani. The High Court made the ruling while considering the plea filed by the accused, Inspector Vinod. It was the Ponnani Magistrate Court that issued the order to register a case against officers, including SP Sujith Das, on the complaint of the housewife. The High Court quashed the order after receiving a report which stated that the complaint filed by the housewife was not credible.

The woman hailing from Ponnani had alleged in her complaint that she was sexually assaulted by the SP, DySP and CI. The housewife approached the High Court as no further actions were taken on her complaint. The other day, the single bench of the High Court had directed the Ponnani Magistrate Court to take a decision within 10 days. Following this, an order was issued to initiate an investigation against the police officers.
