KALPETTA: Voting time for Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency and Chelakkara assembly constituency, where by-elections are being held in the state, is over. While there was a good turnout in Chelakkara, there was a huge drop in the polling percentage in Wayanad. Long queues of voters could be seen in many booths in Chelakkara even after 6 pm. They were given tokens. As per the latest reports, 72.51 per cent polling has been recorded in Chelakkara. Meanwhile, Wayanad recorded 64.27 per cent polling. This is less than last time. The Congress says that the decrease in the polling percentage in Wayanad will not affect their victory.

While rural areas in Wayanad experienced a good rush since morning, there was less crowd in urban areas. Candidates Priyanka Gandhi, Sathyan Mokeri and Navya Haridas visited various booths. In Chelakkara, UR Pradeep, K Balakrishnan and Remya Haridas also visited the booths. The polling in Palakkad will be held on the 20th as it was postponed in view of the Kalpathi Ratholsavam.
