LONDON: Highly respected British news portal ‘The Guardian’ has pulled out of social media platform X. The Guardian has announced that it will no longer post its news on social media behemoth X. Guardian alleged disturbing content, including far-right conspiracy theories and racism, on X to have forced them to such a decision.
“This is something we have been considering for a while given the often disturbing content promoted or found on the platform, including far-right conspiracy theories and racism,” it said.
The US presidential election campaign served only to underline what we have considered for a long time: that X is a toxic media platform and that its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse.”
At the same time, Musk responded to Guardian's exit as 'irrelevant'.
Despite the decision to not use X, Guardian will allow their reporters and staff to use the platform for newsgathering purposes.
