KALPETTA: A youth has been arrested with 10 kg of ganja brought for sale in Wayanad. Meppadi native Anilkumar alias Anees (50) was arrested by the anti-narcotics squad under District Narcotics Cell DySP Joshi Jose from Kalpetta town. He was arrested on Thursday morning.

According to the police, Anees is an accused in several theft cases registered in and outside Wayanad district. He has been under police surveillance for the past few days. The anti-narcotics squad seized 9.58 kg of ganja from his bag upon taking him into custody after he was seen standing near the new bus stand in Kalpetta town with a trolley bag.

District Police Chief Taposh Basumatary said that the police have been conducting surveillance focusing on drug gangs and that the police are taking strict legal measures to prevent the use and sale of drugs.
