DHAKA: A recent post on X, shared by a page named after US President-elect Donald Trump, has sparked alarm with threats targeting Hindus in Bangladesh. Titled "Big News from Bangladesh," the post included disturbing images and statements from Islamic fundamentalists calling for violence and constitutional changes in the country.
The post threatens the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple, warning that if it is not banned, extremists would forcibly enter the temple, drag out Hindus, and kill them. Additionally, demands have been raised to remove the term "secular" from the Bangladeshi constitution. Justifying this demand, the extremists argued that since 90% of Bangladesh's population is Muslim, the constitution should reflect Islamic dominance rather than secular principles.
These developments come amidst growing concerns over religious intolerance and minority persecution in Bangladesh. The threats have drawn international condemnation and renewed calls for the protection of religious minorities in the region.
