KANNUR: The mystery over the death of Kannur ADM Naveen Babu continues to loom even a month after his death. Naveen Babu was found hanging in his quarters in Kannur a day after he was publicly humiliated by the then Kannur district panchayat president PP Divya during his farewell ceremony. Divya, who arrived at the farewell ceremony uninvited, had levelled serious corruption allegations against Naveen Babu during her speech.

Naveen Babu was found hanging in his quarters on October 15. But questions remain unanswered regarding his final hours. Although the investigation was handed over to a special investigation following criticism against police investigation, mystery still looms over the death of Naveen. However, Naveen's family trusts the assurances given by the CPM and the government. If those assurances are violated, they will approach the High Court seeking a CBI investigation.

The investigating officials are taking special care to ensure that the probe into the benami transaction surrounding the petrol pump does not reach Divya and other VIPs. An officer, who was the Vigilance CI, was removed the other day following an allegation. It is also alleged that this official's brother is a partner in a start-up firm alleged to be Divya's benami company.

Questions that remain unanswered

• Why did Naveen decide to commit suicide?
• Whom did he meet after the farewell ceremony? Whom did he call on the phone?
• Where did Naveen go after getting down in front of Muneeshwaran Kovil? What did he do till the morning?
• Police said that Naveen reached the quarters in an autorickshaw. Did they find this autorickshaw?
• Although there is evidence to prove that Naveen did not go to the railway station, why did the police, along with some media outlets, spread the lie that there was CCTV footage of him sitting on the platform and walking through the track?
