KANNUR: The final rites of the two theatre artists killed in the tragic bus accident will be held on Saturday. The mortal remains will be kept at Kayamkulam KPAC from 8 am today for the public to pay homage. After the public darshan, Anjali's body will be brought home to Kayamkulam Muthukulam. Funeral services will be held at the residence. Meanwhile, Jessy’s body will be brought to her residence in Kollam Karunagappally and the final rites will take place at Mulangad public crematorium.

The accident happened Friday morning at around 4 am. The drama troupe had a programme in Kannur on Thursday and they were going to a programme in Bathery on Friday.

The troupe initially tried to enter Wayanad from Kelakam via Nedumpoil pass. However, due to the threat of landslides, traffic was banned on the route. The accident happened when they were going to Wayanad via a shortcut using Google Maps. The vehicle lost control and overturned.

The injured are Ernakulam natives Umesh (39) and Bindu (56), Suresh (60), Vijayakumar (52), Kalluvathukkal native Chellapan, Kayamkulam natives Unni (51), Shibu (48), Kollam native Shyam (38) and Athirumkal native Subhash (59), Muhamma native Sajimon, Cherthala native Babu and Kollam Panmana native Ajayakumar.

All are under treatment at the hospital while some are reported to be in serious condition. It was just five months back that Jessy’s husband and theatre artist Thevalakkara Mohan died.
