PALAKKAD: In a major political turnaround, estranged BJP leader Sandeep Varier has decided to join Congress. Most congress leaders have reached the KPCC office and an announcement will be made soon. It is learned that Sandeep met with AICC leader Deepa Dasmunsi last night and confirmed his desire to switch.

Sandeep Varier is expected to reach the election committee office anytime to confirm his switch. Earlier, there were rumours about Sandeep joining CPM after locking horns with BJP leadership. However, Saturday marked a move that nobody saw coming. It is learned that the congress leadership was in contact with Varier for the last week, persuading him to switch. Congress camp is highly confident of this move boosting their chances in the by-polls.

Despite many efforts from RSS to alleviate tensions, Sandeep was steadfast in his decision to not attend the campaign work of BJP in Palakkad. Sandeep said the BJP failed to address the issues he raised and said he was not ready to give up his dignity.
