THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Kerala is likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall and heavy wind in the coming hours. As part of the warning, a yellow alert has been sounded in seven districts today. The yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. According to the IMD, isolated places in these seven districts are likely to receive thundershowers tonight.

The IMD also warned that Kollam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod districts are likely to receive isolated rain accompanied by thunderstorms and winds blowing at a speed of less than 40 kmph.

Isolated places in the state are likely to receive heavy rainfall today and tomorrow. A yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts tomorrow.

The IMD has advised fishermen not to go fishing in the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts today.
