AMARAVATI (MAHARASHTRA): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has inspected the bag of Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi while he was campaigning in Maharashtra. The incident took place in Amravati. The team boarded Rahul Gandhi's helicopter and carried out the search. The video of the same is going viral on social media.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's bag was checked amid strong protests against the checking of the bags of opposition leaders. The officers are seen checking Rahul's bag. Rahul can be seen walking away while the inspection is going on. The action was taken while the Congress leaders were watching.
Earlier, the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena had come out against the checking of bags of opposition leaders. Uddhav had asked if the Election Commission would be willing to check the bags of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders in such a manner. Rahul's helicopter was denied permission to take off in Jharkhand. This current incident is following this.
