ALAPPUZHA: Nandita and Neha's railway station is smart enough to generate electricity at the touch of feet! Smart railway station with automatic level cross. Nandita and Neha's working model received a lot of attention yesterday at the State School Science Festival. Both are class 10 students at Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram.
The electricity generated at the smart railway station can be used for operating lights. Since there is an LDR sensor (light-dependent resistor sensor), there is no need for human assistance to turn on and turn off the lights. Another feature of the smart station is the automatic control system that prevents accidents at level crossings. The arrival of the train will be known in advance through the infrared sensor. The gate will be automatically opened and closed. The ultraviolet sensor will sound an alarm and give a signal, prohibiting people from crossing the track while a train is arriving.
