NEW DELHI: The campaigning for assembly elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra concludes today, marking the final push for votes ahead of polling. In Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren is set to attend over six rallies, with the focus largely on the tribal-dominated Santal Pargana region. The second phase of polling, covering 38 constituencies, will take place tomorrow.

Key contenders in this phase include Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his wife Kalpana Soren and senior BJP leader Babulal Marandi. Kalpana Soren is also actively campaigning, addressing rallies in four constituencies.

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, the stage is set for a highly competitive assembly election. This will be the first election following the split between the Shiv Sena and NCP, adding to the political intensity. The ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi are both vying for a decisive victory in the 288-seat assembly.

Polling in Maharashtra is scheduled for Wednesday, with the vote counting set for November 23. The new government must assume office before November 26, when the current assembly's term expires.
