GANDHINAGAR: An 18-year-old first-year MBBS student Anil Metania, lost his life due to ragging at GMERS Medical College, Dharpur Patan. According to reports, senior students forced Anil to stand for three hours, after which he collapsed. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Anil could not be saved.

Before his passing, Anil provided a dying declaration to the police, stating that senior students compelled him to endure the ordeal. His family has alleged that third-year students are responsible for his death and have demanded justice. The police have registered a case of accidental death based on a complaint filed by Anil’s father. An FIR has been lodged against 15 students allegedly involved in the incident.

The college’s dean, Dr Hardik Shah, has assured strict action, stating, "We are deeply saddened by the incident and will cooperate fully with the investigation to ensure justice is served."
