KOLLAM: Former MLA Aisha Potty has been excluded from the CPM area committee amid reports of differences with the party on various issues. Though she had earlier cited health reasons for her absence from committee activities, sources indicate growing tensions, including allegations that her name was omitted from the inauguration ceremonies of projects initiated and implemented during her tenure as MLA.
Party leaders have stated that Aisha Potty’s exclusion is because she currently serves as a member of the district committee. However, G Sundaresan, another district committee member, has retained his position in the area committee. Local committee secretary of Trikannamangal, who had openly criticized the CPM district secretary, was also removed from the area committee. This decision has sparked discussions about potential internal dissent.
In yesterday’s representative meeting, the 21-member area committee list notably excluded the secretary of the Trikannamangal local committee, which includes Kottarakkara town. During the meeting, it was pointed out that the district secretary visited only three out of ten CPM workers who were jailed for assaulting a Congress leader, raising further questions about the party's internal dynamics.
