THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of rain accompanied with lightning at isolated places in Kerala from today till November 20. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for three districts including the capital today.

Yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted. Heavy rainfall means a situation where rainfall ranges from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

Meanwhile, IMD has issued an advisory that there is no restriction on fishing along the Kerala and Karnataka coasts today. However, fishermen should not venture into the Lakshadweep coast today.

Cautionary Instructions

Thunderstorms are dangerous. They cause great damage to human and animal life, electrical and communication networks and household appliances connected to electrical conductors. Therefore, the general public should take the following precautions from the time the cloud starts to be seen. Do not hesitate to take this precaution as lightning may not always be visible.
