PORBANDAR: Seven Indian fishermen, who were apprehended by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) near the India-Pak maritime boundary off the Gujarat coast, were rescued by the Indian Coast Guard. According to reports, the PMSA took the fishermen into custody from the No Fishing Zone after the fishermen's boat developed technical issues and drifted into Pakistani waters. Upon receiving information, the Indian Coast Guard chased the Pakistani vessel for two hours and intercepted it before persuading them to release the fishermen. The incident took place on Sunday.
"Indian Coast Guard ship Agrim deployed close to the maritime boundary line with Pakistan chased the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency ship PMS Nusrat after a chase of around two hours and clearly told them that under no condition, it would allow the Pakistani ship to take away Indian fishermen from fishing boat Kaal Bhairav from Indian waters," defence officials said.
The health condition of the rescued fishermen is satisfactory. The fishermen, who were brought to Okha port on Monday, have been handed over to the police.
