KOCHI: The High Court ordered continuous inspection from officials to ensure that cleanliness and basic facilities are maintained at Sabarimala Sannidhanam, Pilgrimage Path, Nilakkal and Pamba. A Devaswom bench comprising Justice Anil K. Narendran and Justice S. Muralikrishna issued the directive to the Devaswom Vigilance Wing and the Executive Magistrates.
Meanwhile, the government and Devaswom board apprised the court about the cleanliness work going effective in the pilgrimage centre. Vishudisena and Pavithram volunteers are deployed round the clock. Toilets are functional. Food donations, drinking water and biscuit distribution will continue while a separate queue has been prepared for the elderly, disabled and children. The officials are giving special attention to not allowing the queue for darshan to exceed the Valiya Nadapanthal.
Trained policemen are deployed in shuffle mode every 15 minutes in the 18 holy steps. Temporary excise offices and check posts have been set up for drug testing. FASTag will be introduced in counterless parking areas within a week. Roadside parking is banned. Officials also informed that the lack of street lights in the Ilavunkal area will be resolved.
