KASARAGOD: Tamil Nadu native N Thangaraj, who lives in Kaithakkad in Cheruvathur, and was fined Rs 45 lakh for removing soil with JCB, will meet Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan with his family and lodge a complaint. Revenue Minister K Rajan has sent a memorandum in this regard. Meanwhile, following the Kerala Kaumudi news, a large community of political and social activists was formed in the state to save Thangaraj and his family from committing suicide.
The Chandera police registered a case after obtaining a written report from agriculture officer Ambujakshan that the place where the soil was removed from using JCB belonged to the data bank. Kasaragod district collector imposed a fine on JCB after this. According to the Wetland Conservation Act, the land owner is the real culprit if the land is filled with soil. The police and revenue officials took legal action against Thangaraj by completely avoiding the church committee members who owned the land. It will soon come to light on whose pressure the police and agriculture department officials reached the site of the removal of the soil within 10 minutes.
